Pleasant

Pleasant originates from the south-eastern United States and is an alumnus of the New York School of Visual Arts. 
Pleasant also attended Brooklyn’s New York’s Pratt Institute. A former member of the downtown New York City ‘Gatien’ era Club Kid scene of the mid 1990’s, Pleasant’s element of shock is documented in the form of his self titled, ‘Unknown’ persona that is implicit in his art. Soaking up influences from New York City’s East Village underground art scene to London and Berlin’s art scenes. Pleasant’s current work has evolved over the years into an unusual blend of various styles and mediums that push the barriers of what is deemed “acceptable”. Often walking a fine line between social commentary, parody and the light hearted. This is often represented in Pleasant’s oil paintings, graphic design and installation artworks.

Pleasant studied under the tutelages of recognized Illustrator Jack Potter and New York abstract painter Michael Goldberg. Pleasant was also influenced by American painter Kenny Scharf whom Pleasant also received instruction. Pleasant has appeared in various publications and media some of which have included, Het Parool, BlackBook, the New York Press/Chelsea Clinton News, Apple® Inc and Nickelodeon Television Network.
