Amsterdam-based multidisciplinary artist Nikke Naeme debuts on April 15 with his solo exhibition ‘Happy People’ in the GO Gallery.
The exhibition is on display until May 27, 2023.
Naeme’s work is influenced by well-known artists in modern art history, including Francis Bacon, Ralph Steadman, Stanley Donwood and Jean-Michel Basquiat. His artworks are painted very intuitively. His head is full of ideas and stimuli that he quickly processes in his drawings, paintings, music and texts. Two years ago, the artist held a brush for the first time, and now he has completed more than 300 paintings.
Naeme’s uses a stamping technique with which he edits his paintings in mirror image with acrylic paint, ink and palette knives. The viewer might ask: “Who am I, what others see, or how I see myself when I look in the mirror?”.
“Happy People” is a collection of paintings that reflect his passion for music and graphic arts. His work expresses the human psyche, with a focus on self-reflection, pop culture and human behaviour.
The exhibition opening of “Happy People” is on April 15, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The artist will be present at the opening to explain his work and answer any questions.
